Hello!

My name is Sandra. I grew up in the evangelical church as a child of first generation immigrants. When I started university, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or “be”, but I started taking more art classes until I majored in photography. I found the camera gave me permission to pause and ask questions.

After uni, I worked as a professional photographer for almost a decade before going to graduate school to study branding and political communications. I found graduate school to be a place where curiousity was not only allowed but encouraged. The more curious I was, the more I could read amidst the professionally curious. Little did I know, that was research.

Now, I am a PhD student examining the intersection of monetary governance and inequality. I am interested in how unregulated capitalism is produced and normalised between people and institutions.
